BACCARAT - PARIS

BMP03

Today we went to "BACCARAT" headquarters in Paris. Completely renovated by my "chouchou" : PHILIPPE STARCK ! He transformed the Hotel of "Marie-Laure de Noailles" into a peace of art that will blow you away. This Museum-Boutique-Restaurant-Showroom concept is a MUST see in Paris.

The entrance is a warning to the magnificence of the place. Two mirror framed fire places lead to a gigantic aquarium with ... a Crystal Chandelier in it. Then you enter the Hotel, walking on the red carpet that we all deserve ... and the carpet will sparkle with 1000's of fiber optic, while you climb to the first floor. For the fun you can go back down, and take the transparent elevator, A Royal access to the restaurant.

On the First floor, the Museum (7 €, free if you are under 18 like us :) A video tells you and shows you everything about the making of this "French Craft Art", the precision, the detail ... the price .. Oh no ! not yet, that will be later in the Shop. Everything is a delight for the eyes, and a killer for the wallet. But after all, this is Baccarat. The Museum is a small "museum", or should I say, a big "room". Don't be afraid that you will have to spend the entire day like at the Louvre, and leaving the place with regrets of things you did not have time to see ... Here, you will have plenty of time ! The presentation, once again, is absolutely incredible with some cool Lounge music. Once the museum part done, 20 mns later, video included (don't take me wrong, I loved the place) the best part is yet to come.

The Shop is not right after the museum (It is not like in Disneyland where you step into the shop as soon as you leave the attraction ... ) No ! Baccarat is much more "Elégant & Raffiné", You will have to decide yourself if you want to enter the shop or not. My suggestion is : ENTER. It is even better than the museum itself. The only difference in here, is the "small" tag with the price on it (small but big enough to fit lot of "00000" before the € sign). In those moments, you wish, you had a rich rich rich Uncle far far far away, who put your name as the only name on his wheel. In LA we have a friend who has a complete Baccarat service ... I mean HAD ... one small earthquake, and it was all gone ! Oups ...

The last delight, is the CRISTAL ROOM. For me one of the most beautiful restaurants in the world. A big plus for Paris, the lunch service is open until 3pm, then, the Snack Tea Time, Cocktail hour, and Diner. The limits of the Luxury are pushed to the maximum here, drinking from crystal glass, wine poured from a crystal carafe, obviously all Baccarat. This is the only place, where you could afford to "accidentally" brake a glass ... or two ... for the fun ! lol
